many days out of the year we make a fire in the backyard or in the wood stove.
micah has always been right there and often the tender of the fire.
while the smoke billows, the stress of the day seems to go with it. thoughts come and we visit. wonder hardly ceases.
micah’s birthday party with school friends was a bon fire in our backyard.
if you watch modern family, maybe you saw the episode of claire and phil planning luke’s birthday party? the one where she set up a craft table for the kids to make a comb sheath? the one where her comb sheath making plan was a total bust? i realize i pulled a claire.
this son of mine loves cozy things, little scenes and fire.
so, why not make the little twig/battery operated tea light campfires? why not?
why not?
well, maybe not because stoking the real fire was so intriguing. roasting hot dogs and marshmallows was more satisfying. hanging outside on an unseasonably mild night was better than sitting at the kitchen counter with a glue gun.
so, it was my gift to them. i made all six of them. with joy. while jerry hung out around the fire with a flock of boys.
go crafts.
