a quick scan around the backyard,
me sighing heavily as i clean it up again,
i notice the creative play that has happened.
nevermind that the grass is dead and the kids play with trash.
i honor it,
remember that way before i had babies,
this is all i ever wanted…
even if it does make messes.
I love those images! And my, oh, my did Eliza just grow up all of a sudden??????

Yes, same here…trash playing backyard children who leave me with a yard looking like the morning after a concert. I do love it.

oh my! i feel the same way! they make such a mess, but nothing makes me happier than to see them come in for the day barely recognizable under all of the dirt. then as they drift off to sleep after warm showers, I look out over the yard at all of the “mess” they made. in my mind….. mess=memories! thanks for reminding me! i thoroughly enjoy both of your blogs!

umm – it’s not trash if it’s being re-used or re-cycled. I believe the trendy new word is “upcycled”. Like adults have just discovered it.
