with boxes full of fireworks,
grocery bags full of food,
baskets full of laundry,
mugs full of coffee.

with minds free from fear
of planes dropping bombs,
of people storming in our home,
of random acts of violence,
of hunger,
of loneliness,
of torture.

we greet this morning with plans to eat,
with bickering over which show to watch,
with gathering stuff to go fishing,
with a morning launch of fireworks,
with the ability to go buy what we need.

we are free.
humbly free.

  1. Sounds lovely. We have been trying to get ahold of you by Skype or Phone, but thought you were probably celebrating. Enjoy each other, please.
