we hosted the mother daughter group from church for a fairly spontaneous summer scavenger hunt. this group is girls who have completed 2nd grade through middle school and their mamas (in our small church this means 8 girls who just finished 3rd, 4th and 6th grades). naomi loves when we get together.
naomi made a scarf in her 6th grade math class and gathered supplies for this group. the girls decorated strips from an old tea towel with permanent markers. the girls wore them around heads, arms and legs.
mamas adorned their girls with sunscreen face paint…and some mamas had it done to them too.
i made a simple scavenger hunt that the girls went on their own to complete. while they were gone we mamas dranks fancy drinks and talked about times we’ll be apart from our girls this summer.
the girls came back quickly (having scored a dirty diaper for “something soft”) and made a scavenger hunt for the mamas to do. we rocked. once we were together we ate more, talked about summer plans, and had a rousing discussion on ear piercing.
precious times in these influential years.
