today was the day back from our christmas break. i don’t embrace the rigor of the schedule. saying goodbye to jerry at 7, finishing breakfast for the kids, socks, shoes, backpacks, wetting wild hair down, offering one more bite of something, checking to see if the windshield needs to be scraped, closing the pets in, loading the kids up, and heading off to school to beat the first bell which rings at 7:50. dang.
thank you coffee and npr.
our after school time felt nice. well, after i made it clear that i had no creativity left for crankiness. be nice or go to your room. but hey, let’s be nice and jump on the trampoline, go for a quick walk and build in the workshop.
we only had to keep things nice for about 45 minutes.
since the sun was shining, it was attainable.
Cool workshop work. And how nice of your dear animals to keep things cozy while you’re at home and when you’re gone.

When I was in high school, I clearly remember wanting SO badly to be my dog in those early mornings. She was curled up, cozy, and playing possum so she didn’t have to go out to piddle before we left (although, we always made her and then she’d promptly snarf her breakfast down like a good lab then go back to her bed).
