with humble joy, we celebrate another year of my grandfather’s life. i call him opa…my kids call him opi. he is an incredible wise man. with his name being abram, he has quotes that he calls “marbas.” my dad remembered one of his today: “i may be concerned, but i am not worried.” there are so many more, scripture intertwined with life moments mixed with longings…true wisdom, indeed.
you know the saying that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree? well, he is a tree i am glad to fall from. call me apple, please.
and with teary eyes and a swirling heart, i go to bed tonight with the gift of knowing that each of my children has been held by him.
hapy birthday, opa.
happy birthday, opi.
here’s to 88 years lived well.
Hatty Dirtday Opi! Xxx

Hey there!
We called back up to Winnipeg last night. All the Winnipegers were together celebrating Opa/Opi’s birthday. They all (Oma & Opa, Gareth & Kathleen, Simon & Judith, Sara & Matt) gathered around the computer screen and enjoyed this wonderful post together. Opa especially enjoyed your paragraph about having held each of your children. Special indeed.
Love, love, love!
Love is all you need!
Blessings!
Dad

That is a wonderful tribute to a very dear Abram John. And as lovingly as he has held your children, I would imagine he was also held, as will your children hold future little ones. His touch connects the hands of many generations. What a precious gift to be a part of, Apple!
