earth day.

i saw an old co-teacher friend of mine and she reminded me of the years we took preschoolers on parade-marches for earth day…around the block or down the street or up the hallway.  we’d chant “earth day!” and they would reply  “everyday!”  she’d chant “reduce!”  i’d chant “reuse!” the kids would chant “recycle!”

oh, good times.  here is an old picture of a parade-march from the newspaper.  it was also week of the young child so they wore crowns that said, “i am a young child”  remember this, ang?

perspective:  the little girl in red pants is a 5th grader now.  wow.

today there wasn’t preschool which gave more time to hang quilts to dry.

and that was after washing them with homemade laundry soap thanks to jen.  oh how i wish there was a camera that day.  the mixture of warm water, borax…what else, jen?  it was warm and slippery and milky.  i bet she would share her recipe with anyone.  though i think she should make it and sell it at the farmer’s market.  i made her a label (which i would tweak a little, but i love the name).

there is a seinfeld episode where kramer talks about a woman having the jimmy-legs (that’s all i remember, so if it is an offensive episode, forgive me).  well, that’s all i can think of when i do my laundry now.

but i don’t have the jimmy legs, i have the jenny clean.

  1. i think the farmer’s market is great idea! jen, you could easily make it worth your while and still offer a cheap option for folks. you even have your own label designer already! i bet it would be fun to improvise with the recipe, too (like add some lavender or eucalyptus oil. . .).

  2. my – 5th grade, huh? and then i stop to think…my little one from that picture is about 2 1/2 months from being a 5th grader…YIKES! and i am all about the soap…so, either jen will have to share the reciepe, or my mom will have to bring me some in june…:)
