fleeting

news of 3 deaths and a baby’s serious illness greeted us today…alongside rejoicing of a new baby born yesterday. this life is so fleeting…nearly transparent. on our way out to school this morning, the wall showed me some of what i have…and i am grateful. img_2486.jpg

added later: i feel pulled to comment that this loss is not ours as much as that of others.  this loss is one we simply know of, one we are thinking of, one we are sending fierce prayers for, one we are holding knowing so many are in pain.

so remember these families spread across the miles as we are.

  1. Oh My, that is a beautiful shot.
It’s so true how fleeting it all is and good to be reminded just how much there is to be grateful for.
    Thanks for that : )

  2. my first reaction to this photo was that nowhere but kansas would you see that kind of sun. it’s a very moving shot, and i can’t figure out how in the world you took it! my thoughts and dreams have been full of some of these same deaths. what the human spirit endures is unbelievable.

  3. I think we had a similar day yesterday since we’re connected, also, with those deaths (only I know of 2) and the birth. Thanks for posting this. It’s a good reminder of the greater community we’re all a part of.

  5. I think we had identical days these past few days, right down to these deaths (I only know of 2) not being people we were connected with personally, but to ones close to us (my sister and brother-in-law in this case). It’s a very heavy, heavy time right now. One that I’m not sure how I can approach when they get home from the funerals to be a support. It’s times like these we remember the comfort of our extensive community–from Kansas to Wisconsin to Indiana to Minnesota to… they are well cared for and loved, for sure.

  6. Ooops… Sorry for the redundant comments… I didn’t see it posted at first and didn’t know if I did something wrong or what… sorry!
