water from a new pitcher
wine from 1998 (no 1995 to be found in town)
were sang for at church
and saw the faces of so many
who were with us 12 years ago,
made pizza for a lunch picnic
and movie in the cool basement,
mud play in the backyard,
take out and fishing
as evening came,
grateful and aware
with promises to remember
and to make it work
for the rest of our lives…

ah, yes. i remember that day well. . . the women arranging flowers in the kitchen, the antique dress, the beautiful ceremony, the festive backyard afterwards. and to think you two had already been together for so long! what constancy and comfort.
